Lost in Memory as we Speak

hit the decks
and don't personalize
world events
she says
in my mind

as I lie in bed
I have a waking dream
that scene in the mall
cherry jelly mars
the plastic overcoat

I think the dreams
came from childhood
the ones of planes
in Michigan
we saw the remnants
of a plane wreck
a small plane
that had gone into a building
the crowd stood around
and watched

my sister kept a piece
of broken glass
from the wreckage
in a small drawer
for many years
the tiniest spot
of dark red blood on it

I would take it out and look

I had no foreknowledge

Did anyone ever....

my mother...
came from the fields

enter

cartoon kickboxers
play in my mind
