Picture of Gonzo taken shortly before suicide

Denver, Colorado - Gonzo the Great (pictured left) the popular Muppet, has been found dead at his home in Colorado.

Gonzo's son, Clucky, found his lifeless body, Thursday.

Clucky stated, "Felt was everywhere, and a gun was nearby... I guess he shot himself... but then again he was never really alive - he's just a puppet".

Gonzo is best-known for his work with Jim Henson, frolicking with the other muppets, and his account of mind-warped drug-fueled chicken addiction, in his 1972 opus Feathers and Lusting in Las Vegas.

Gonzo pioneered "Thompson journalism", a factual style in which the writer was repeatedly fired out of a cannon and performed other death defying stunts.

He is s
urvived by Kermit, Miss Piggy and assorted other 'muppets'.

A memorial service is planned sometime next week, officials said.
